I’m looking for a band with very deep and meaningful lyrics. One of my favorite bands is The Gaslight Anthem, so something a little similar to them. I also noticed that some metal bands have good lyrics. What would be a band with dark, macabre, gothic song themes, but not exactly metal. I like music I can sing along to, not too much screaming. That’s what Slipknot is for. But a band like Atreyu has some good lyrics. Help me out please?
With two solid years of touring under their belt since their 2008 release, With Roots & Wings, the female vocal trio Angel Band has left no audience has been left unmoved by their all-out stage demeanor, signature rootsy, bluesy Americana songs, superb back-up band and the “dig in” vocals of leader and lyricist Nancy Josephson, Kathleen Weber, and Aly Paige. At first performing as opening act and backing singers for Josephson’s husband, w… More >>

I have recently become engrossed in the music of We Are Scientists. I love their sound. I would like to listen to other bands with similar style. They can be old or new. Thanks in advance.
If you haven’t listened to We Are Scientists, you should spend a minute or two and take a listen.

The members of MTB were good ol’ boys at heart, but it was during the recording of the Top 40 album Tenth that rock ’n’ roll excess started to rear its ugly head. You’d never know it from the music, which reached back to the original sound of the debut on such songs as “Save My Soul,” which recalls the hit song “Can’t You See,” and “Sing My Blues” – a song about the Caldwell brothers’ years of playing the local club circuit before forming MTB. Live At Antone’s – released here on DVD and CD – finds their concept of songwriters in the round with a rhythm section moving into exciting new territory. Now truly a magical musical entity, one that’s comprised of singers/songwriters/guitar-pickers Colin Brooks, Gordy Quist and Ed Jurdi, bassist Seth Whitney and drummer John Chipman foll… More >>
